Our Services

  • 10-15 minutes. If you have questions about your child’s speech/language development, and/or would like more information about developmental milestones or community resources, please give us a call. We would love to support your family.

  • 60-90 minutes. We complete a thorough review of your child’s history, early development, and general developmental milestones. We then engage you and your child in a dynamic assessment (usually play-based) to determine current speech/language levels (including interaction, play, imitation, gestures, and engagement) and/or feeding & oral motor skills (depending upon the concern). If appropriate, we will administer a standardized speech/language assessment which provides information about your child’s current speech/language skills in comparison to age-matched peers. Finally, we review results from the evaluation and arrive at a collaborative plan to support your child and family.

  • 30-60 minutes. The frequency of treatment sessions is unique to your child and family unit - and will be discussed/decided upon during the evaluation. Therapy sessions are an opportunity for the therapist to work directly with your child and family in a fun and engaging environment. Treatment sessions are where the “work” is done to facilitate progress towards agreed-upon goals.

  • Family members, caregivers, and a child’s “village” are the most important allies in a child’s growth and development. Carryover to the home environment and generalization of targeted skills are imperative to a child’s success. We, as therapists, work diligently to engage caregivers at every stage of the process to support collaboration and ensure a child’s success.

Therapies We Offer

Speech/Language Therapy

What is speech therapy?

Speech therapists (aka speech-language pathologists, or SLPs) are healthcare providers who support children and families to grow speech, language, cognitive, social communication, and feeding and swallowing skills. Speech therapy is a dedicated time where you and the SLP work together to support your child’s overall development and target skills in the above stated areas.

What does speech therapy look like?

Therapy sessions are always play-based (a child’s “work”) and often explore the balance between both child-directed and adult-facilitated activities. The goal of therapy sessions is to engage your child in motivating and fun routines, support speech/language growth to attain functional goals, as well as to scaffold new skills to find the “just right challenge”.

Feeding
Therapy

What is feeding therapy?

Pediatric feeding therapy focuses on addressing feeding and swallowing difficulties in infants, children, and adolescents. The goal of pediatric feeding therapy is to help children develop safe, efficient, and positive feeding and swallowing skills, as well as to address any related issues that might hinder their overall growth and development. The feeding journey is very personal to both the child and family, and individualized care and approaches are a necessity. The therapist will work closely with your family, as well as other medical professionals, to ensure a holistic and supportive approach.

What does feeding therapy look like?

Feeding therapy sessions are truly unique experiences based on a child/family need. Feeding therapy sessions are very dynamic and rarely follow a linear path. Activities may include trialing different positions (infant or toddler), exploring bottle/nipple sizes (infant), building oral motor skills, exploring novel textures, play with food (both messy/sensory and pretend), direct work with the child, caregiver coaching, and "homework" for families to practice skills outside of our clinic.
